In Unity, we take the Bible “seriously, not literally”. Many people mistakenly believe the only ways to approach the Bible are through the lens of fundamentalism or to reject the Bible out of hand. In “Reading the Bible Again for the First Time,” Marcus Borg reveals how we can have a contemporary, yet grounded, experience of the sacred texts without abandoning our scientific worldview or our critical thinking. In the class we will focus on the Hebrew Scriptures, learning about modern biblical scholarship and taking an overview of its historical context. Participants may choose to audit the class simply to enrich themselves, or they may take the class for credit in Unity’s SEE (Spiritual Education) program.
This Teacher’s Kit contains all you need to lead this class, except a copy of the book, which may be purchased via amazon.com or at your local bookstore.
